At least 3,000 people were killed in Haiti in the first six months of 2025, the UN said today, fearing that expanding gang violence can destabilize other Caribbean countries. Haiti, the poorest country in the American continent, is suffering from the violence of criminal gangs in a context of political instability. Violence has further intensified since the beginning of 2024. “From January 1 to June 30, at least 3,141 people were killed in Haiti,” said a spokesman for the UN Hospital for Human Rights, Rabina Samdasani, during a report in Geneva.
