More than 34 million Income Tax returns have already been delivered, says Revenue

The Federal Revenue held, on the afternoon of Tuesday (31), a press conference to disclose the balance of the 2022 Income Tax. of 34,100,000.

Of this result, the Revenue reported that 2,293,250 were rectified and 2,015,962 are pending. The balance sheet also shows that 61% of the declarations received have tax to be refunded, while 19% of them have tax to pay and 20% without taxes.

With regard to pending issues, the agency reported that 40% of them occurred due to omission of income, while 21% due to medical expenses and 18% due to withholding tax.

Regarding the channels available for sending, the preference on the part of taxpayers continues to be the Revenue program, accounting for 90% of deliveries. The mobile channels – smartphones and tablets – were responsible for 1,611,798 statements, and the e-CAC for 805,899.

Federal Revenue tax auditor Julio Cesar Vieira Gomes stated that the institution is “working with technology for a faster and safer process”.

In addition, the spokesperson highlighted that the agency adopted a stance of “guidance and collaboration” with taxpayers. “Now, at the beginning of June, they (taxpayers) will have the possibility to obtain an extract of the processing of the IR declaration, where they will know what are the pending items to be able to make the necessary adjustments”.

The deadline for submitting the Income Tax ends at 23:59 this Tuesday. According to the balance sheet, for this last day, 3.5 million declarations are expected to enter the system. Anyone who is obliged to deliver the declaration and does not do so by the end of the deadline will be subject to a fine.

The amount of the fine is 1% per month, on the amount of income tax due, limited to 20% of the amount of income tax. The minimum amount of the fine is R$ 165.74.

The fine is generated at the time of delivery of the declaration and the release notification is together with the delivery receipt and the taxpayer will have 30 (thirty) days to pay the fine. After this period, interest on arrears (Selic rate) begins to run.

Who must declare:

Taxpayers with taxable income, subject to adjustment in the declaration, whose sum was greater than R$ 28,559.70 and, in relation to rural activity, obtained gross revenue in an amount greater than R$ 142,798.50;

Persons with exempt, non-taxable or taxed exclusively at source income, the sum of which was greater than R$40,000;

Individuals residing in Brazil who, in calendar year 2021, had, in any month, capital gain on the disposal of assets or rights, subject to tax, or carried out operations on stock, commodity, futures and similar exchanges, or who had, on December 31, possession or ownership of goods or rights, including bare land, with a total value exceeding R$300,000

Necessary documents:

  • CPF;
  • Income reports from the paying source(s), including financial investments;
  • Updated bank account data for refund or tax debits;
  • Name, CPF, degree of kinship of dependents and date of birth;
  • Updated address;
  • Copy of the last Individual Income Tax Return;
  • Professional activity currently carried out;
  • Receipts and payment vouchers that generate a deduction in the tax calculation, for example: medical expenses, health plan, education / instruction expenses;
  • Other documents such as those proving the acquisition or sale of goods and rights to be duly declared.

Refund calendar:

IRPF 2022 refunds will be made in five batches:

  • May 31, 2022;
  • June 30, 2022;
  • July 29, 2022;
  • August 31, 2022;
  • September 30, 2022
