More than 35 buses are burned in a garage in Londrina, Paraná.

At least 35 buses were burned inside a garage in the city of Londrina, Paraná, in the late afternoon of Monday (15).

The fire began to spread around 5:30 pm and managed to be controlled throughout the night. Nobody got hurt.

According to the company Transportes Coletivos Grande Londrina, which manages public transport in the municipal network, the cause of the fire is still being investigated, but “everything indicates” that it was due to criminal origins.

The company stated that “it would spare no efforts” to serve all lines this Tuesday (16), when some irregularity in the city’s public transport was expected.

In a statement, the mayor of Londrina, Marcelo Belinati (PP), stated that the updated number of destroyed buses was 50.

“The damage is huge for the company, users and for the city. Buses from transport companies throughout Brazil are not insured because the cost would make the service unfeasible”, wrote Belinati in a publication on social networks.

“I ask for the users’ understanding, as it is possible that TCGL services may present problems in the coming days as a result of the total loss of so many vehicles”, added the mayor.
