More than 400 marijuana bars are seized in Minas Gerais

The Minas Gerais Civil Police (PCMG) released on Monday (28) the seizure of 410 marijuana bars located in São Joaquim de Bicas, metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte (RMBH), during Operation Barreiro Clean.

The narcotics, which total about 250 pounds, were stored in a shed and according to the team of the 2nd Barreiro Civil Police Station, although the drug was stored in the city of São Joaquim de Bicas, the cargo was destined for the Barreiro region in the capital of Minas Gerais.

According to Barreiro Regional Delegate, Gislaine de Oliveira Rios Xavier, “last week’s police action is the result of investigations focused on mapping drug trafficking in the area. The findings began at the end of 2024 and had as unfolding two other phases, held in January and March, with two seizures and three arrests.”

Considering the characteristic of the load seized, the delegate Túlio Leno believes in the possibility of interstate trafficking. “We believe that it came from another state, border with marijuana countries due to the purity of the newly produced and mixed drug,” he points out.

The delegate also said that there are already identified suspects and that investigations continue to reach others involved. “The lines of research unravels, opening other information. We are noticing that criminal groups are working as a form of consortium: each one makes a contribution of certain value and purchases the drug.”
