More than 400 people were arrested this Tuesday (18), during the 13th Phase of Operation Unum Corpus, in Bahia. According to the Civil Police, the arrests were carried out in Salvador, in the Metropolitan Region and in municipalities in the interior, which were not specified. The main targets are members of criminal groups involved in drug trafficking and homicides.
The Public Security Secretariat detailed the results during a press conference. Among the arrests in the interior, 80 people were arrested in the act and 290 under warrant. Of the targets reached, 142 are accused of crimes against life, 100 for drug trafficking and 73 for crimes against property.
In the actions in the capital of Bahia, police teams seized 85 kilos of marijuana, 15 kilos of cocaine and crack, a 38 caliber revolver, a cell phone, inputs for refining cocaine and packaging for packaging drugs.
Secretary Marcelo Werner highlighted the importance of this phase of Unum Corpus occurring in the June period, aiming to reduce the activities of criminal groups in the capital and in the interior of the state. “It is an important operation, which comes at a very opportune moment, in the preview of São João, so that the entire Bahian population and arriving tourists can have a São João of peace and tranquility”, said Werner.
According to the security forces, investigations are underway, including legal measures against inmates of prison units, suspected of influencing criminal actions on the streets.
