More than 44,000 applications collapsed the Labora website the first morning of Covid aid for freelancers

Heart attack morning for thousands of self-employed in the Valencian Community who launched this Thursday to request aid to support sectors affected by Covid-19 and which are included in the Resist Plan of the Generalitat Valenciana. The avalanche of requests caused the web to collapse and, with it, the pissed off by a multitude of freelancers who criticized the Generalitat’s lack of foresight through social networks.

 «The website of the Generalitat has been collapsed for about 45 minutes due to the high demand for applications received. However, from the General Directorate of Information and Communication Technologies (DGTIC) have enabled solutions in order to guarantee access to all people and companies and at 10:00 a.m. it was working normally affirmed this Thursday from Labora Valencian Employment and Training Service.

The website of Labora Valencian Service of Employment and Training received 44,000 appointments until 1:30 p.m. on Thursday for the application of the aid companies and workers affected by the Covid-19. In addition, Labora stressed that the amount allocated to these grants, 80 million euros,  «it is calculated to be able to reach all possible requests» by self-employed workers who request it.

These aids they do not work in order of arrival rather, they will reach each and every one of the self-employed workers and companies in the sectors of activity established in the decree that request it, ”the Council stressed.

Labora aids amount to 600 euros in the case of full-time contracts and 300 euros in the case of contracts to part time for each worker registered with a labor contract (with a limit of 12,000 euros for each contribution account of the company or self-employed that belongs to the supported economic sectors). For hardworking people autonomous without workers under their care, the aid will amount to 600 euros.

These grants are part of the Plan Resistir de la Generalitat and are financed as part of the Union’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic through the 2014-2020 ESF Operational Program of the Valencian Community and REACT-EU .

Decree 17/2021 of the Consell, published last Tuesday February 2 in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV), collects the economic activities that can be accommodated to these aids. Among others, hotels and similar accommodation, tourist accommodation and other short-stay accommodation, campsites and caravan parks, restaurants, food services, travel agencies, gym activities or management of show rooms.

The The deadline for applying for the grants will end at 11:59 p.m. on February 17 2021. From Labora they have articulated the request for help in two phases. A first, in which you must access through the Labora website, and in which you will only have to identify yourself (CIF of the company and NIF or NIE of the self-employed person) and give contact information (email address, contact phone number).

With this information, Labora will create a record and the system will inform the user of the date and time slot assigned to carry out procedure two, which is the presentation of the application. In this phase, it is necessary to have an electronic signature.
