More than 62,000 cases of coronavirus in 24 hours in India

THE India confirmed 62,258 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, with the total number of cases reaching 11,908,910, as announced today by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The number of deaths related to Covid-19 reached 161,240, while 291 new deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours. More than 11.29 million people have recovered in India since the pandemic broke out.

A day earlier, the country announced 59,118 new coronavirus cases and 257 deaths.

India ranks third in the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19, followed by the United States and Brazil, with more than 30.15 million and 12.4 million COVID-19 patients, respectively.

The World Health Organization described the outbreak of COVID-19 as a ‘pandemic’ on March 11, 2020. To date, more than 126.02 million people have been infected worldwide and more than 2.76 million have died. , according to Johns Hopkins University.

Negative record in Peru

The Peru announced that almost 12,000 new coronavirus infections were recorded in the last 24 hours, which is the highest daily number of cases in the 12 months of the epidemic.

The Ministry of Health announced that 11,919 confirmed cases were recorded within 24 hours, which brings the number of cases to 1,512,384 since the appearance of Covid-19 in Peru.

During the same 24-hour period, 201 new deaths were recorded in connection with Covid-19, bringing the total to 51,032, according to the ministry.

In terms of infections, this is the second time that their daily number in Peru exceeds 11,000. Last Wednesday, authorities announced that 11,260 cases had been reported in a 24-hour period.

Peru is facing the second wave of the epidemic. The infections have been spreading since the beginning of January, after Christmas and New Year.

The announcement of the latest figures coincides with the release of an official report according to which the variant strain of the virus originally identified in Brazil is the cause of 40% of the infections recorded in recent months in Lima, where about half of the cases in Peru.
