More than 650,000 addresses are already involved in Cardano staking

Last week was a busy week for the fifth largest cryptocurrency. During this time, 50 thousand new staking addresses have appeared on the network. In early June, ADA surpassed the 600,000 mark, since then the number of addresses has grown by 8% to 662,000.

There are 2,656 active mining pools in the network. And the volume of funds blocked in staking has reached $ 29 billion, which is 71% of the total number of coins in circulation.

Cardano wants to go to El Salvador

El Salvador made history this month as the first country to officially recognize Bitcoin as legal tender. Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has already hinted that ADA will be next.

Hoskinson revealed details of the possible adoption of the coin in El Salvador during another live broadcast on YouTube. In particular, he noted that his team is negotiating with the country’s authorities. He also hinted that he may soon visit El Salvador in person.

The Cardano founder also answered questions about Mark Cuban and the stablecoin Tether.

Ebullient activity of Cardano

Work on the sidelines of the project is in full swing. In particular, the team announced the launch of smart contracts on the Alonzo testnet. According to the head of the development department Dimitros Poulopoulos, they are still very primitive.

“It’s just a transaction that returns ‘Hello, world’ or confirmation of payment,” he said.

Smart contracts are part of the Alonzo Blue phase, the first phase of Alonzo’s rollout.

Around the same time, the Cardano developers reported that they began to study the viability of “stable fees”.

IOHK stated in a blog post that stable fees will ensure fair and predictable prices for cryptocurrency transactions. In addition, Cardano plans to rely on recommendations for a distributed ledger when developing the platform, which will allow integrating stable fees without problems.
