After suffering a judicial defeat, former federal judge Sergio Moro signaled to a group of allies his willingness to run for a position in the Legislative Power of Paraná.
According to reports made to CNN the tendency is for the former Minister of Justice to wait for election polls in the state to define his political future.
Moro, who is affiliated with União Brasil, should not appeal to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) after the transfer of his electoral domicile was denied by the São Paulo Electoral Court this Tuesday (7).
The assessment made by the former federal judge and his main advisers is that, today, an appeal to the TSE could jeopardize an eventual candidacy by Paraná, his state of origin.
In private conversations, Moro has indicated a greater willingness to run for the Federal Senate. In Paraná, however, Senator Álvaro Dias (Podemos) must run for reelection.
Despite having left Podemos, Moro still has a good relationship with Dias, one of those responsible for the former federal judge’s entry into a political career. In addition, União Brasil is still resisting Moro’s candidacy for the Federal Senate.
For this reason, Moro’s allies have tried to convince him to run for a seat in the Chamber of Deputies, with the potential for him to become a kind of voter leader and, later, to run for a position in the Executive Branch.
Despite Moro’s willingness, the former federal judge’s team still fears the possibility that he will not be able to restore his electoral domicile in Paraná. Today, there is still a risk that Moro will not be able to contest the October elections.
Wanted, former judge Sergio Moro did not comment.
