Information publication “Kommersant” with reference to Eduard Lysenko, head of the Moscow Department of Information Technologies, reports on a new project created by the Ministry of Finance, in which it is proposed to use special biometric systems in schools to collect and process information about students. If this project is given the go-ahead for implementation, already in 2022, special hardware devices will be installed in schools in the capital of Russia that will recognize the faces of schoolchildren and teachers by passing them through the turnstiles. It will be impossible to get inside the educational institution without biometric authentication.
The authors of the project stated that this step is simply necessary to improve the personal safety of schoolchildren and teachers on the territory of educational institutions, since biometric scanners will not allow unwanted individuals to enter the building. The introduction of this technology came to mind to the authors of the project after a rather tragic event that happened this spring in Kazan. However, employees of the department said that the installation of biometric scanners and information processing systems will be carried out only after the decision of the director, teachers and parents of schoolchildren.
