In Moscow, the first special cameras and radars were installed on the cars of the Center for Traffic Management (TsODD), which will monitor traffic and record speeding. This was reported in the Telegram channel of the Moscow Department of Transport.
“DCC is launching a new type of photo and video recording. We will install cameras and the most accurate radars on the roofs of our company cars: their coverage is 360 °. They will ride in the stream and track offenders on the move. It will no longer be possible to accelerate and brake only when there are ordinary speed cameras ahead, ”the ministry said in a statement.
In the future, in addition to violations of the speed limit, photo and video recording devices on patrol cars will be able to detect other traffic violations, such as driving on dedicated lanes and the side of the road, improper or prohibited parking. It will also be possible to identify wanted cars by cameras. Initially, vehicles with these devices will patrol the Kievskoye Highway, and within a month their area of operation will be expanded.
According to Yegor Chernov, Deputy Head of the Directorate for Photo and Video Recording of the Data Center, the new hardware and software systems have been certified and are being tested for more than three months.
