Russia expelled today a Bulgarian diplomat, in retaliation for Sofia’s decision to expel one of its own diplomats with “baseless” accusations as Moscow says, reports APE.
In a statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry states that Mr. Bulgarian Ambassador to Moscow Athanas Christine, to whom the decision on the deportation of the Bulgarian diplomat was notified.
On April 29, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry announced the deportation of a Russian diplomat. A day before the announcement, Bulgarian authorities announced that the country’s prosecutor’s office considered six Russians suspected of involvement in bombings that took place between 2011-2020 in military ammunition depots containing EMKO munitions to be sent to Georgia. and Ukraine.
