Today, December 16, Moscow officially launched the long-awaited virtual card “Troika” for paying for services in public transport – the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport Maxim Liksutov told the information publication “Interfax”.
“Virtual Troika” is one of the most anticipated digital transport services of this year. I am sure it will become no less popular with Muscovites than the usual Troika, “Liksutov said, adding that over time, in his opinion, millions of citizens will use the virtual card every day.
However, so far there are certain limitations in terms of accessibility – the new virtual card is currently available only in the Moscow Metro application and only on devices running the Android operating system. Moreover, now the “Wallet” function has not been implemented – only subscriptions can be added to the card, although the expansion of functions is promised to be presented in the foreseeable future. At the same time, you can pay for travel with a virtual Troika card on absolutely any city public transport – just bring your smartphone to a validator or a turnstile that accepts bank cards.
Most likely, support for virtual card payments will be implemented by the end of 2022 at all turnstiles in the metro.
