Closer to this summer, the Face Pay contactless fare payment system for face recognition should be launched at all MCC stations, and by the end of the year, the city authorities plan to launch a pilot project at the MCD and ground transport. It will also be possible to pay for travel on biometrics with a virtual Troika and social cards for students and schoolchildren. The head of the Department of Transport and Development of Road Transport Infrastructure of the capital Maxim Liksutov announced this in the Telegram channel “Deptrans of Moscow”.
In addition to plans for the current year, Liksutov shared statistics on fare payments using biometrics. Today, more than 55 thousand metro passengers use the Face Pay service. The cost of a single trip using this innovative payment method remained at the level of 46 rubles – the same as for Troika. In 2021, 12.74 million trips were made via Face Pay in the Moscow metro.
