Moscow orders ship inspections with divers in ports after explosions in tankers

The Russian authorities are stepping up measures in the ports, including the recruitment of divers who will carry out inspections on the ship’s reefs in response to increased threats to commercial shipping and infrastructure, according to a letter whose content was seen by the Reuters agency. The letter, issued by the Ministry of Transport of Russia and the Federal Marine and River Transport Service (Rosmorrechflot), commands the Masters of the Maritime Ports to inform shipowners that all ships will be inspected by explosives upon arrival and mooring, which will include using West and telemetry equipment for underwater controls.
