Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov denied on Saturday that Western sanctions had influenced his oil exports.
Lavrov also said that the country should see a jump in profits from energy shipments in 2022, according to the Tass news agency.
“Considering the price level that was established as a result of Western policies, we did not suffer any budgetary losses. On the contrary, this year there will be a significant increase in profits from exporting our energy resources,” Lavrov told a Bosnian television station, according to Tass.
European sanctions
Earlier this week, Europe announced that it intends to block up to 90% of Russian oil purchases by the end of this year. Immediately, the embargo affects oil arriving by sea, which represents 2/3 of imports.
“Agreement to ban the export of Russian oil to the EU. This immediately covers more than 2/3 of Russia’s oil imports, cutting off a huge source of funding for its war machine,” European Council head Charles Michel said in a tweet late Monday. .
The expansion planned for the end of 2022 considers the end of the use of oil that arrives by land made by Poland and Germany.
