Moscow says NATO preparing for large-scale armed conflict with Russia

The NATO is preparing for a large-scale armed conflict with Russia, said today (27/12) the Russian Deputy Minister of Defense Alexander Fomin during the briefing of the military escorts and representatives of the foreign embassies that are accredited in Moscow.

“The military building of the alliance is completely redirected to the preparation of a large-scale high-intensity military conflict with Russia,” Fomin was quoted as saying by APE-MPE.

According to Fomin, in NATO documents of recent years that reflect his doctrine, such as the 2019 one on NATO strategy, The Russian Federation is directly named “without any doubt as the main source of threats to the security of the coalition”.

At the same time, Fomin pointed out that “the Declaration of Rome remains in force.” “It specifically states that Russia and the Alliance do not treat each other as enemies. “This position was confirmed at the Russia-NATO Council summit in 2010 in Lisbon,” Fomin said.

Fomin also said that the North Atlantic Alliance had used the events in Ukraine as a pretext to cut off cooperation with Moscow.
