Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday (23) that Moscow would retaliate with attacks on British targets if the country's weapons were used by Ukraine to attack Russian territory.
Zakharova told journalists that British targets “on the territory of Ukraine and beyond its borders” could be hit in such a scenario.
She was repeating a warning Moscow first issued earlier this month after British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said Ukraine had the right to use weapons supplied by London to strike targets inside Russia.
Russia reacted indignantly to that remark and cited it as one of the reasons it chose to hold exercises this month to simulate the launch of tactical nuclear missiles.
