Most voted city councilor in Bahia dies in motorcycle accident

The most voted councilor in the city of Queimadas (BA), José Ariel Rodrigues de Oliveira (MDB) died in a motorcycle accident this Sunday morning (27). The accident occurred in Itiúba, around 80 kilometers from Queimadas.

According to the Civil Police, Ariel da Martins, as he was known, lost control of the motorcycle he was riding and collided with the back of another motorcycle. The accident occurred on Saturday night (26), according to a report from the victim’s sister. He was 43 years old.

The politician was taken to the Municipal Hospital of Itiúba and then transferred to the Trauma Hospital of Petrolina, where he died, according to the Civil Police.

Queimadas City Hall released a note of condolence about the death of the councilor and lamented what happened. “Our condolences to family and friends for this irreparable loss,” said the municipal administration.

José Ariel Rodrigues de Oliveira (MDB) was elected with 1,077 votes in the first round of this year’s municipal elections, being the most voted in the municipality. The politician was also former Secretary of Infrastructure for Burns, businessman and event producer.
