“Motel Destino”: Brazilian film at Cannes gets release date in theaters

“Destination Motel” a Brazilian film that competed for Palme d’Or at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival got a release date in Brazilian cinemas.

The film will be distributed by the production company Pandora Films which marked the arrival of the film on the big screen for August 22.

“Motel Destino” is by the filmmaker Karim Aïnouz (“The Invisible Life” and “Praia do Futuro”) and is described as an erotic thriller, where the location on a roadside on the coast of Ceará that gives the film its name is the stage for dangerous games of desire, power and violence. One night, the arrival of young Heraldo definitively transforms the motel’s daily life.

The totally vulnerable runaway boy crosses paths with a woman trapped by the dynamics of an abusive marriage.

The film was shown at the Cannes Festival, in France, and competed for the Palme d’Or award, the event’s main award. The winning film, however, was the North American “The daughter-in-law”.
