Mother and son were shot while sleeping at home, at dawn on Monday (7/04), in the community of Chapadão, in Costa Barros, north of Rio de Janeiro. The case occurred during an intense shooting in the region.
17 -year -old Ruan was hit by the head, and his 54 -year -old mother, Rosália, was shot in the right arm. Both were taken to the Costa Barros UPA. There is still no update on the state of health of the victims.
According to family members, mother and son slept on the bedroom floor – a measure adopted by the family for fear of lost bullets. Even so, they could not protect themselves. They were found injured by Rosalia’s sister.
The case further aggravates the statistics of armed violence in Rio. According to the Fogo Cruzado Institute, with this episode, it rises to 12 the number of shot teenagers in the Rio Metropolitan Region in 2025. Of these, five died and seven were injured.
