According to the 21st DP (Bonsucesso) investigation, the man would have beaten the child, and the mother would have omitted the situation. They were arrested in the act.
The investigation began after the child entered a health unit in the Maré Complex, in the North Zone of Rio, presenting bruises on the body. The report of the Forensic Medical Institute (IML) found lacerations in internal organs of the child.
Initially, the man stated that the baby had fallen from the bed and beat his head. Subsequently, in testimony, he presented another version that he himself fell on the baby when he descended a stairs, even breaking his cell phone.
According to the police, the narrative was not confirmed, since the man had no injuries and the device was not broken. In testimony, the boy’s mother claimed that she was a victim of domestic violence and suspected that her children were assaulted by him, but was eventually arrested by omission.
In a statement, the State Department of Health reported that the child suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest, and despite all the efforts of the multidisciplinary team, there was no success in the resuscitation process.
