On September 18, the Civil Police of Bahia extended the investigation into Mãe Bernadete’s death for another 30 days. However, the final result has not yet been presented. CNN contacted the corporation to ask for updates on the case and is awaiting a response.
Three suspects involved in Mother Bernadette’s death were arrested in September. The person responsible for the department, Marcelo Werner, stated at the time that it was still “premature to talk about motivation”.
After the crime, the Federal Police in Bahia opened an investigation to investigate the murder. The PF is also investigating the death of Bernadete’s son, Binho do Quilombo, who was shot to death six years ago.
