Mother of child abandoned by father on bus is found dead in Porto Alegre

The Civil Police of Rio Grande do Sul closed the investigation into the abandonment of a 3-year-old child on a bus at the Três Coroas bus station on October 22nd. The father, who appears in the images leaving the scene, was arrested as the main suspect in the crime.

During the investigations, the police tried to find the mother, as it was initially believed that she had participated in the abandonment. However, the body of the woman, identified as Caroline Luft, aged 29, was found in an advanced state of putrefaction, inside a plastic bag under the couple’s bed, in the family’s living quarters, in Porto Alegre.

The police arrived at the scene after neighbors complained about the bad smell that had emanated from the locked house since the day the father left with the child, a week ago.

According to the police, Carolina’s death is being treated as feminicide and the main suspect is her partner. Until then, the investigation indicates that he had killed his wife and then fled by bus to Três Coroas, where he abandoned the baby.

When officers arrived, they found the baby using a feeding tube. He was sitting in the armchair alone, with the documents and a medical report that pointed out Apert Syndrome.
