Mother of Russian soldier begs for her son to be returned – The moment the police surround her

A Russian mother soldier begged President Vladimir Putin to end him war in Ukraine, so that her 22-year-old son can return to his homeland. The heartbreaking shots show the mother risking her arrest by taking part in a war protest in Moscow, where she says that just 10 soldiers are still alive in her son’s regiment.

She claims that her son was informed that he would complete military exercises before being sent to a war zone in Ukraine and that she was unable to contact him for 10 days. The gruesome footage came on the day it was revealed that Russia had lost up to 28,000 troops during three weeks of fighting in Ukraine.

The mother, who was not named, said: “Thank God he is alive. Only 10 people are left from his constitution. Please stop this bloodshed. Return my son. “

Police surrounded the mother to arrest her

Behind her, protesters appear to be holding circular demonstrations holding anti-war posters in a Moscow square. Halfway through the interview, ABC reporter James Longman notes that the mother becomes nervous as police begin to monitor them.

The mother then picks up her phone to hold a photo of her son, revealing that her fingernails are painted blue and yellow – the colors of the Ukrainian flag.

Still struggling with tears, the mother holds a photo of a young man in a military uniform. He says: “Look, he’s just a boy. He is just a child. And he is fighting, for what reason? The police then come after the mother and start shouting through a loudspeaker, making her run away.

The Pentagon estimates that at least 7,000 Russian soldiers have been killed another 14,000 to 21,000 have been wounded – representing nearly one-fifth of Putin’s estimated 150,000 men gathered at the border before ordering an attack 21 days ago.

This is in line with the estimates of the British secret services, which today stated that the Russian invasion has stopped “on all fronts” with “minimal progress on land, sea or air” in the last 24 hours, while it continues to be “heavy losses”.

But the bombing of Ukrainian cities continues, with Kyiv hit by rockets in the early hours of the morning – one of which was demolished, although debris hit a 16-storey apartment building, killing one person and setting others on fire.
