Mother of transgender woman accused of double rape: ‘I think you have to be born a woman to be a woman’

Janet Bryson, mother of transgender double rapist Isla Bryson, caused a sensation with her statements, expressing the position that “you have to be born a woman to be a woman”. Isla Bryson, 32, was jailed for eight years in February 2023 for raping two women in West Dunbartonshire and Glasgow. The rapist was accused of these crimes under the name Adam Graham, but changed gender while awaiting trial and took the name Isla Bryson.
