A young man from Belo Horizonte had a watch stolen, but managed to recover the object after investigating who the app motorcycle courier was who had taken the item. On social media, musician Guilherme Barros’ report has already surpassed 500,000 views.
According to the musician, a friend asked to send the watch, valued at R$1,500, and he called an app motorcycle courier to make the delivery.

However, minutes after sending it, he realized that the item had been stolen, as the race status on the app was “looking for a race”.
From then on, the boy was unable to notify the company, because, according to the application, it is not possible to record the occurrence of a race that was cancelled.
Through the race link he sent to his friend, Barros found the thief’s full name and motorcycle license plate number.
“I entered the link and there was a full name and the thief’s license plate number (…) at that same moment, I realized that I had opened a chat on 99 with a thief when I sent him an elevator [que estava no elevador]”, he said.
After that, he went to a police station and registered a police report.
He contacted the motorcycle courier, but received no response, and when he informed him that he would file a complaint with 99, the thief responded saying that the account was purchased from someone else.
Turnaround
After the lack of answers, Guilherme searched for the thief’s name and discovered that there was a CNPJ from a snack bar registered in his name, in the city of Vespasiano, in Greater BH. In addition to food services, there were also “fast delivery services” as a secondary activity.
Therefore, he resumed contact with the thief and threatened him with the information he obtained.
“I’ll even ask for a [citou o nome da lanchonete] here while you make your decision,” he said.
After this, the man who had taken the watch apologized and sent the watch again.
“About an hour later, the doorman calls (sic) here saying that the watch has arrived (sic)”, he concluded.
When contacted, the Civil Police of Minas Gerais reported that “a 28-year-old man registered a police report, last Friday, in BH”, and that they are investigating the facts.
What does 99 say?
In a note, 99 regretted what happened and reported that the user registered the event in the Help Center, on the 13th, and that “an email was sent with guidance”.
Furthermore, the motorcyclist was blocked.
Also in a statement, the company said it was “available to collaborate with the authorities’ investigations, if necessary”.
