A motorcyclist died after being run over by a Military Police vehicle this Wednesday morning (24), in the capital of Pernambuco. The police were chasing suspects at the time of the attack.
According to the corporation, a team of police officers was returning to the base at around 5 am when the agents spotted two men who were stealing a motorcycle near the Avenida João de Barros viaduct, in the north of Recife.
Upon noticing the approach of the police, the robbers fled, giving rise to a chase, which extended along Avenida Agamenon Magalhães.
During the action, a police vehicle collided with a motorcycle that was passing by and was unrelated to the incident.
The Fire Department was called and provided first aid at the scene. The victim was transported to Hospital da Restauração, where he died. In a statement, the PM regretted the incident and expressed solidarity with the motorcyclist's family and friends.
The suspects managed to escape and have not yet been located.
