Vice President Hamilton Mourão said this Tuesday (21) that Brazil’s entry into the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) is a “natural path” for the country to have new international investments and quality jobs.
Last week, the entity approved the plan that begins Brazil’s accession process. At an event at the Itamaraty Palace, Mourão said that Brazil is honored to be part of the OECD.
“Brazil’s entry into the OECD is a natural path. Natural path and relevant factor for Brazil to take strides towards greater insertion of our economy, our companies and our products in international trade and investment flows, strengthening our development and generating quality jobs for our population.”
According to the vice president, Brazil has a lot to contribute to the entity in several spheres.
“Brazil, once a full member of the OECD, will increase its contribution to the organization’s work in all its spheres of activity. As we know, OECD standards and practices are a global reference on a wide range of topics, from education to fighting corruption.”
The event was expected to be attended by President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), but he did not attend.
