Movie with Pedro Pascal and Emma Stone receives 5 minutes of applause in Cannes

“Eddington” new movie Ari Aster (“Midsommar”, “hereditary”), was applauded for five minutes after its display at the Cannes Film Festival.

The production, which made its debut at the festival this Friday (16), was attended by the main cast on the red carpet, as Pedro Pascal , Emma Stone , Joaquin Phoenix and Austin Butler . The film competes in the main show for the Golden Palm.

Throughout the exhibition, about 20 people left the place and according to Variety, the plot of the director’s new feature did not impress the international audience.

After the film’s debut, Aster joked what the audience had watched: “I don’t know what to say. Sorry, I think? Or thanks? I am very privileged to be here . It is a dream that has come true and thank you for welcoming me here! ”.

The plot is set during the Covid-19 pandemic, when the sheriff of a countryside in the United States and the mayor of the local clashes and trigger confusion among the inhabitants. Meanwhile, a newly arrived couple is isolated after the government declares a pandemic.

The production is starring Austin Butler (“Elvis”), Emma Stone (“La la land”), Joaquin Phoenix (“Joker”), Luke Grimes (“Yellowstone”), Michael Ward (“London gangs”), Pedro Pascal (“The Last of Us”) and more.
