Moving average of Covid cases drops 44.5% in one month in Brazil

The moving average of Covid-19 cases, which considers infections in the last seven days, dropped by 44.5% in a month in Brazil, according to data released by the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass), last Thursday. thursday (11).

The index marked 57,798 on July 11th and dropped to 22,869 on yesterday’s date.

The Ministry of Health attributed the reduction in infections, among other measures, to vaccination coverage against the disease in the country.

“More 164 million people completed the vaccination schedule with two doses or a single dose. With this, Brazil is on the way to having 80% of the population protected with the primary vaccination schedule (two doses)”, they wrote.

With regard to the moving average of deaths from the disease, the index fell by 14.6% in one month. On July 11, the floating number recorded by Conass was 246. This Thursday, the number was 210.

The number has been above 200 since July 28.

These indicators serve to monitor the pandemic without any distortions caused by underreporting on weekends and holidays or even errors in the information access platforms of the state health departments (SES).

To effectively protect against the disease, says the Ministry of Health, “it is necessary that all eligible groups seek a closer vaccination post to complement the immunization with the booster dose”.

According to data compiled by CNN Agency , 46.89% of the eligible population received the 3rd dose of the vaccine against Covid-19. .
