Moving average of Covid deaths, above 200 since June 28, grows 64% in one month

Brazil recorded, this Thursday (21), 269 deaths from Covid-19 and 51,433 new infections from the disease in the last 24 hours, according to data released by the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass).

As a result, the average number of deaths, above 200 since June 28, was 244. For comparison, a month ago, Conass recorded a moving average of cases at 148 — which means an increase of 64% in the period.

With the exception of Rondônia and Rio Grande do Norte, all states updated data today. Conass reported that both had problems accessing information systems.

So that the follow-up of the epidemiological weeks is not hampered by underreporting, the panel considers the mobile indices — numbers that show the average of the last seven days of infections and deaths.

This Thursday, the moving average of cases was 51,938. On June 21 the number was 39,621.

With the updates, the country has recorded 33,505,727 infections and 676,486 fatalities from Covid since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020.

According to a survey carried out by the CNN Agency Brazil has 84.38% of the population vaccinated with the first dose of the vaccine.

About 79% of the eligible public took the second dose, or the single dose, and less than half took the third dose (45.51%).

Data were grouped based on information from state health departments.
