MP asks TCU to investigate the accumulation of 21 positions on boards of directors by Pedro Guimarães

The Public Ministry at the Federal Audit Court presented a representation to the Court of Auditors to investigate the participation of former Caixa president Pedro Guimarães in the accumulation of 21 positions on boards of directors linked to the state-owned company in 2021.

“The rule, therefore, is non-accumulation, which seeks to prevent the same individual from occupying several positions or performing various functions, being remunerated for each of them, without efficiently performing the activities that are relevant to them. Exception only when there is compatibility of schedules and in the cases expressly provided for in the constitutional text, which do not apply to the case of the former director of Caixa”, said Deputy Attorney General Lucas Furtado.

For Furtado, the State-owned Companies Law, already in force at the time that the former president of Caixa was appointed, prohibits “the paid participation of members of the public administration, directly or indirectly, in more than 2 boards, of administration or fiscal, of a company public, mixed capital company or its subsidiaries”.

“I believe that, due to the seriousness involved, the facts mentioned in the above mentioned matter should be the object of a detained investigation by the Court”, he said. of the former president of Caixa. This Monday (4), the TCU opened an investigation into allegations of sexual and moral harassment against the former manager.

José Oliveira Lima, lawyer for the former president of Caixa Econômica Federal, Pedro Guimarães, told CNN that his client “wants a more rigorous investigation” of the allegations of harassment against bank employees and that in the end “the innocence of Guimarães will be proven” .

According to the lawyer, the former Caixa executive “has no fear” of the accusations and processes he will face. Also on Monday (4), the Public Ministry of Labor inspected Caixa’s headquarters in Brasília. It also decided to include moral harassment in the list of investigated crimes in which the accusation of sexual harassment already appears.
