MP denounced Hallan’s mother and grandmother for abandonment of an incapacitated person; boy fell from the second floor

The Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ) denounced Jéssica Silva Ramos and Marise Alves da Silva, mother and grandmother of Hallan Luiz Silva Ramos Ventura, respectively, for abandonment of incapable . The penalty is four to 12 years in prison

The 7 year old boy died after falling from the second floor of a building in Andaraí, North of Rio, in February 2023. The 3rd Public Prosecutor’s Office for Territorial Criminal Investigation in the Méier and Tijuca area made the complaint last Thursday (20).

Hallan’s mother left the house to do a boat ride on the day of the accident, in Ilha Grande, on the Costa Verde of the state. At around 5:30 a.m., she left the boy and his two brothers Luis Octávio Silva Ramos, 4, and Davi Luis Silva Ramos Ventura, 8, alone in the apartment where they lived, according to the complaint.

Shortly afterwards, Jéssica’s cousin came by and took Luis Octávio to his godmother’s house, and left the other two minors alone at the place. At around 8 am, Jéssica’s mother, Marise Alves da Silva, arrived at the apartment.

Hallan’s grandmother left the apartment at around 10 am, alone. The children’s father, Stephan Ventura, had promised to pick them up at that time, but he had an unforeseen event and did not know they were alone, according to a statement given to the Civil Police.

According to investigations, the boy tried to cross from one room to another through the window, lost his balance and fell. The Fire Department was called, but the child died before receiving help.

The MPRJ also requested precautionary measure that prohibits the accused from maintaining contact with Luis Octávio and Davi.

A CNN failed to find the defenses of the accused.
