The São Paulo Public Ministry (MPSP) charged Thiago Arruda Campos Rosas, aged 32, with double homicide, accused of running over and killing pagode singer Adalto Mello, aged 39, in São Vicente, on the coast of São Paulo, in December last year.
Prosecutor Manoel Torralbo Gimenez Junior, responsible for the case, understood that the crime presents the qualifications of common danger and the victim’s inability to defend himself.
For the promoter, the accused took the risk of causing the death of the singer and anyone else who was at the scene, demonstrating total disregard for the lives of others .
In addition to the criminal conviction, the MPSP also asked the Judiciary to award compensation to repair the damage caused to the victim’s family. The amount of compensation must be defined by the Court.

Pagode singer Adalto Mello, 39 years old, died in the early hours of December 29, 2024, after his motorcycle was hit by Thiago Arruda Campos Rosas’ car, on an avenue in São Vicente, on the coast of São Paulo.
São Vicente City Hall reported that Samu was called, but found Adalto Mello dead at the scene of the accident.
According to the police report, Thiago Arruda Campos Rosas had slurred speech, red eyes and a staggering gait. He confessed to being the driver of the vehicle and claimed that Adalto’s motorcycle suddenly appeared in front of him.
The breathalyzer test carried out on the driver revealed a level of 0.82 mg/l of alcohol per liter of expelled air, exceeding the limit of 0.04 mg/l established by the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB) by 20.5 times.
The case was registered as culpable homicide while driving a motor vehicle.
According to the São Paulo Court of Justice, Thiago Arruda underwent a custody hearing on December 30, 2024, and had his arrest converted to preventive arrest.

The singer’s family and friends crowdfunded on social media to cover the expenses of the wake and burial, which took place on December 31, 2024, in Santos.
