The Public Prosecution Service of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ) denounced two members of the militia gang Danilo Dias Lima, known as Tandera this Monday (27).
Penitentiary agent Júlio Cesar Ferreira Aleixo and Rodolfo dos Santos Vasconcellos are accused of the crime of criminal organization, involving homicide practices, active and passive corruption, extortion, embezzlement, crimes against the bidding law, size and illegal possession of weapons and distribution TV signal and internet.
Danilo “Tandera” is one of the most sought after militiamen in Rio de Janeiro and works mainly in cities of Baixada Fluminense. The investigation points out that the accused played strategic roles in the gang structure.
Rodolfo Vasconcellos acted as a political articulator, intermediating militia interests with public agents and organizing election campaigns for candidates supported by the group.
Inspector Júlio Aleixo used his position to facilitate militia actions, guarantee benefits to members in the prison system and pass on privileged information. The penitentiary agent was removed from his function, after determination of the 1st Specialized Criminal Court.
According to the MP, the criminal organization acted with extreme violence and coercion to consolidate its territorial and economic domain, causing terror among residents and traders.
The gang was also structured with more sophistication, hierarchy and division of well -defined tasks, seeking to infiltrate the public administration.
Investigations, which began in 2020, also revealed a meeting between leaders of the criminal group and pre-candidates from Nova Iguaçu, Seropédica, Itaguaí and Queimados.
Pre-candidates, in exchange for militia support in their campaigns, promised to grant public positions, control government secretariats and favor the group in fraudulent bids.
The MPRJ did not report the identity of the pre-candidates mentioned.
