The economic policy secretary at the Ministry of Economy, Adolfo Sachsida, said in an interview with CNN this Tuesday (28) that the Provisional Measure edited by President Jair Bolsonaro on Brazilian notary offices will bring “more transparency and less bureaucracy”.
“We are modernizing the public registry system in Brazil. What does that mean? More legal security, transparency, agility and less bureaucracy and costs”, he said.
Sachsida explained that the current system of notary offices in Brazil is very local, and more than half do not have “even a webpage”. With the MP, there will be a standardization and centralization of all information from these registries in a single place, according to the secretary.
“With the current system, you are forcing ordinary citizens to queue up at the registry office for things they could be doing at home, facing the computer,” he said.
“After approval [da MP], the person will be able to register the child over the internet, no longer needing to go to the registry. You scan it, put it in the electronic public record system, and you’re done. It is a great gain in the well-being of the Brazilian population”, added Saschida.
The secretary of the Ministry of Economy highlighted that this digitization is a recommendation of the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) and that the measure does not remove the prerogatives of the notary offices.
“Nobody is taking away the legal prerogative of notary offices. We are following an international recommendation so that people can now consult all public records from one place”, he reiterated.
