MP from Santa Catarina investigates Nazi salutes, says deputy attorney general

Videos circulate on social networks in which Bolsonarista protesters allegedly make a gesture considered Nazi during the performance of the national anthem in Santa Catarina. The act was repudiated by the German and Israeli embassies in Brazil.

In an interview with CNN this Friday (4), the Deputy Attorney General of the Republic Luiza Frischeisen stated that the Public Ministry of Santa Catarina investigates the greetings nazis.

“A couple of weeks ago, the press reported that there was a neo-Nazi cell in Santa Catarina, these people were arrested and the Public Ministry of Santa Catarina is investigating those people. We had videos on the internet of what happened in São Miguel do Oeste, which would have had a salute considered Nazi. There is discussion whether or not this salute is Nazi,” he said.

The Deputy Attorney General points out that Nazi demonstrations are considered a crime in the country.

“Nazism in Brazil is a crime. Any Nazi demonstration is a crime. The use of swastika is a crime. As racism is a crime, as regional racism is also a crime – because this issue of regional racism is also very important at this moment. The Ministry of Santa Catarina is checking this issue of neo-Nazi acts,” he said.

Frischeisen said that the videos circulating on the internet allow the identification of those involved.

“The videos identify people and the investigations have to be carried out in a police investigation or in a criminal investigative procedure, which is the procedure carried out by the Public Ministry itself and the people and leaders who were there to verify what that was,” he says. .
