Through the Borba Prosecutor’s Office, the Public Ministry of Amazonas (MPAM) initiated a civil inquiry based on the MMA fight carried out between the mayor of Borba, Simão Peixoto (PP), and former opposition councilor Erineu Alves da Silva, known as Mirico, last Saturday night (11).
The MPAM will investigate any act of administrative improbity and political-administrative infraction allegedly committed by Simão Peixoto. Prosecutors gave a period of five days for the mayor to clarify whether the event was held with public funds and to explain the regularity of his participation in the fight and the political disagreements with the former councilor.
“All legal means for the investigation will be used. It will even be verified whether public money was earmarked for this event, whether public space was used for this, whether there was a charge for tickets, payment of scholarships”, said the Attorney of Justice Marcelo de Salles Martins.
In September, Erineu recorded a video that went viral in the city of Borba, in the interior of Amazonas, criticizing the municipal administration for the state of conservation of a spa. Political disagreements ended up inside the MMA ring.
Organized by the Municipal Department of Social Assistance, the fight was carried out in a crowded gym at the Balbina Mestrinho State School, in the city of Urucá (AM), and broadcast live on the mayor’s social networks.
The clash lasted three rounds, with Mayor Simão Peixoto declared the winner on points at the end. The objective, according to the organization, was to collect food to distribute to needy families in the city. The “12th MMA 2021 Fight Event” also featured other fights between professional fighters.
