The Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro (MP-RJ) offered last Friday (28) a complaint against the duo suspected of having murdered the actor. Jeff Machadowho died in January of this year.
Bruno de Souza Rodrigues and Jeander Vinícius da Silva Braga are accused of aggravated homicide, concealment of a corpse, embezzlement and property crimes against the actor’s estate.
The complaint was presented by prosecutors Alexandre Murilo Graça and Sauvei Lai to the 1st Criminal Court of the Comarca of the Capital. The MPRJ also requested the Justice to convert the temporary detention of the accused into pre-trial detention (with no set period for completion).
According to the complaint, Bruno mixed a narcotic substance in the actor’s drink, before going up to the second floor of his house, in the Campo Grande neighborhood, on January 23 of this year, says the prosecutors’ complaint. The text goes on to point out that, upstairs, they began a sexual relationship and that the actor was strangled when his back was turned.
The strangulation, says the piece, occurred with a cable from a telephone set and was the cause of death.
Jeander would have distracted the actor so that Bruno could attack him, says the prosecution.
After the death, continues the MP, the defendants placed the body of Jeff Machado in a trunk and buried it in land in front of a kitnet rented by Bruno in the same neighborhood, where they later concreted.
The MP’s action also describes the facts and reasons that led the defendants to commit the crimes:
“As of 2019, Bruno falsely promised Jefferson the purchase of an acting spot on a television station, worth more than R$18,000, claiming that it would be passed on to an alleged producer/director of the station. The money was not returned and neither was the hiring. According to the complaint, it was mere bait created to obtain illicit financial advantages from the victim. On the verge of being discovered, Bruno killed the victim,” says the document.
Days after the homicide, the investigation showed that Bruno de Souza impersonated Jefferson and used his credit card password to make purchases at commercial establishments and announced the sale of the victim’s car at car agencies, completes the text.
“There was also an invasion of the victim’s phone, through which Bruno gave himself a false identity to maintain dialogues with the victim’s family and friends, and third parties for his own benefit. The complaint also describes that the accused abused domestic animals by abandoning eight purebred dogs, belonging to the actor, in an empty lot without food and hygiene care, when two died and one disappeared”, he concludes.
