The Public Prosecution Service of São Paulo (MP-SP) established, on Wednesday (14), an inquiry to investigate the dye spill on Rua Álvaro de Oliveira Marcondes, in Jundiaí (SP).
The dye leakage happened after a truck accident last Tuesday (13). The product ran from the street to the lake of Tulipas Botanical Park. The color of the stream was changed and animals from the region were dyed blue.
The intention of the MP-SP is to understand the circumstances of environmental pollution. To this end, the Military Police requested the report of the accident with the truck carrying the substance.
The City Hall of Jundiaí and the São Paulo State Environmental Company (CETESB) were requested by MP-SP to provide the inspection report and data on the vulnerability of the Tulips stream.
The inquiry also seeks those responsible for environmental damage and explanations about the chemical characteristics of the dye.
The deadline for sending the information is five days. The inquiry was opened by the 9th Civil Prosecutor’s Office of Jundiaí by determination of the prosecutor Maria Isabel El Manerwi.
