The Federal Public Ministry (MPF) sent a request to the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) for a letter to be sent from the Minister of Health, Marcelo Queiroga, to provide information about the hacker attack that affected the ConnectSUS system.
According to the MPF, there is the possibility of damage to people who have data registered in the system.
The MPF cannot directly send the request to Health. As it is a federal folder, the official letter must be made by the PGR.
The prosecutor of the Republic Luciana Loureiro asks for clarification within 10 days and informs that there is a civil inquiry in the Federal District’s MPF to investigate alleged leakage or exposure of data from SUS users, which occurred in more than one modality, since 2020.
Loureiro recommended in September this year to Health that it adopt preventive measures to reinforce the security of the folder’s database and comply with the General Data Protection Law (LGPD).
At the time, prosecutor Luciana Loureiro cited episodes of data exposure due to flaws in the programming of eSUS Notifica features – which occurred in 2020.
