The Federal Public Ministry (MPF) filed a public civil action to suspend the removal of the film “How to become the worst student in school” from online platforms. streaming.
The decision to withdraw the feature was taken by the Ministry of Justice on March 15, “in view of the necessary protection of children and adolescents who are consumer consumers”.
According to the MPF, the act of the folder constitutes “censorship by preventing the collective of consumers from exercising their autonomy of choice, for their own consumption, of cinematographic artistic work without interference from the Public Power”.
In the note released this Friday (18), the Attorney General of the Republic Claudio Gheventer explains that the purpose of the action is to correct a violation of freedom of artistic expression.
The MPF complements by pointing out that the Ministry of Justice does not have “powers to authorize or censor a work”, only to decide the indicative classification.

The 2017 feature, created by Danilo Gentili and featuring Fábio Porchat, was accused of showing apology for pedophilia from a clipping of the film that circulated on social media in recent days.
In the official synopsis, the story is about when two teenagers, played by actors Bruno Munhoz and Daniel Pimentel, find a diary with “tips” on how to become “the worst student in school”. The film is inspired by a book by Gentili.
The scene that generated the criticism shows when the inspector, played by Porchat, suggests a sexual act on the part of the boys.
According to the MPF, the work was classified, by the Ministry of Justice itself, as suitable for adults and adolescents from 14 years of age. With the controversy, the folder requested, before asking for the removal of social networks, the change of the indicative classification to 18 years.
On social media, Gentili commented on the case: “the greatest pride I have in my career is that I managed to displease both PT and Bolsonarista with the same intensity”, he wrote. “The tantrums, the false moralism and the patrolling: it came hard on me from both sides”.
Globoplay and Telecine expressed themselves, in a statement, saying that the decision is unconstitutional.
