A recommendation for the temporary banning of organized fans Mancha Alviverde, from Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras, in stadiums, for a period of two years, was issued on the afternoon of this Wednesday (30) by the Public Ministry of Minas Gerais (MPMG) and forwarded to the Federation Mineira de Futebol (FMF) and the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).
According to prosecutor Fernando Abreu, who issued the precautionary measure, the risk presented by organized fans is not restricted to the state of Minas Gerais, therefore, in the document he asks for compliance to take place at a national level.
In the document, the recommendations are to prohibit the use, possession and display of any clothing, banner, flag, musical instrument or any object that may characterize the presence of fans in and around stadiums on game days.
According to the Procon-MG Consumer Protection Prosecutor’s Office, the precautionary measure is a strategy to try to prevent new attacks, such as what happened on Rodovia Fernão Dias, in São Paulo, on October 27th.
According to the Federal Highway Police, the Palmeiras fans carried out an attack on Cruzeiro fans, using pieces of wood and fire to attack members of the rival fans, who were on two buses.
One vehicle was set on fire and another had its windows broken. In total, 17 fans were injured, four seriously. Cruzeiro fan, José Victor Miranda, aged 30, died during the attack.
“It is a public and well-known fact that disagreements between organized fans have, over the years, caused severe disruption to public order and insecurity in society, as the escalation of the conflict does not relent, even in the face of repeated administrative punishments against the aforementioned entities. The problem, therefore, goes beyond the limits of sporting violence, requiring typical state action to combat organized crime”, states the prosecutor.
In the document, prosecutor Fernando Abreu also demands the creation of a national register of fans suspended or prevented from attending sporting events and asks that “football clubs and football corporations adopt internal procedures so that organized fans associated with the practice of violence are prohibited from using the symbol/shield, in order to avoid sanctions in the sporting sphere, in view of the objective civil liability provided for in the General Sports Law.”
The Minas Gerais Football Federation has 72 hours to analyze and decide whether to follow the Recommendation of the Public Ministry of Minas Gerais.
