Mpox and multiple trauma lead the searches for “what is” questions asked by Brazilians on Google, as announced by the technology company this Friday (10). In the ranking of the ten topics most associated with this type of question, two other topics linked to the health area also appear: ketamine and H1N1.
mpox, which occupies the first position on the list, was declared a global health emergency by the World Health Organization (WHO) in August, after an outbreak devastated countries in Africa. The disease is caused by the mpox virus, from the genus Orthopoxvirus and family Poxviridae. Transmission of the virus to humans occurs through contact with infected people or materials contaminated with the virus.
Multiple trauma, in turn, had its searches also boosted in August due to the Voepass plane crash in Vinhedo (SP). This was the cause of death of all passengers who were on the airline’s plane. According to the Orthopedic Trauma Society, polytrauma is characterized by multiple injuries caused to the body by external forces, of a physical or chemical nature. This is the case of high-speed impacts and burns.
Ketamine, a substance that caused the overdose death of former Boi Garantido farm lady Djidja Cardoso and actor Matthew Perry, appeared in fifth place in the ranking. H1N1, one of the two subtypes of influenza A, came in seventh place.
