MPRJ denounces councilor Gabriel Monteiro for harassment and sexual harassment

The Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro denounced the councilor Gabriel Monteiro (PL) for harassment and sexual harassment against a former cabinet adviser. The case was opened at the 2nd Public Prosecutor’s Office for Territorial Criminal Investigation in the Zona Sul and Barra da Tijuca area.

The councilor is already a defendant for filming sexual relations between him and a teenager. According to the Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro, the councilor would have used his own cell phone to film sex scenes between the two. According to the Statute of Children and Adolescents (ECA), it is a crime to produce, reproduce, direct, photograph, film or record, by any means, an explicit or pornographic sex scene involving a child or adolescent.

If convicted, the councilor can face imprisonment from four to eight years, and a fine.

The Civil Police investigation into these crimes has not yet been concluded.

In a note, the defense of Gabriel Monteiro, Sandro Figueiredo and Pedro Henrique Santos, claim that the complaint would have been made by former aides to the parliamentarian and that they would have already assumed that they work for the “towing mafia” in testimony at the Council of Chamber ethics.

The lawyers also argued that, in the episode identified as harassment, other employees were inside the car with the alleged victim and denied the version at the police station.

The councilor is also facing a process of removal from office in the City Council of Rio. The Parliamentary Ethics and Decorum Council closed, this Thursday (23) the phase of hearings in the process that investigates whether or not there was a breach of decorum by Gabriel Monteiro.

Also on Thursday (23), the congressman defended himself against the allegations, in testimony. The council will now meet again in August, after the parliamentary recess in July, when the final report will be presented.
