The Public Ministry of Labor of Goiás (MPT-GO) scheduled the testimony of employees and former employees of PEC Táxi Aéreo, the company that owns the aircraft in which singer Marília Mendonça and four other people were, for next Wednesday (17th). ).
Pilots, co-pilots and ex-employees denounced the company for extrapolating their working hours and not receiving the necessary weekly breaks for rest.
In a statement, the PEC Táxi Aéreo states that it ‘obeys the legislation with regard to the journeys and rest of its crew’. In addition, the company said it is available to the authorities to clarify any doubts.
The first anonymous tip was made in May of this year, according to the prosecutor of MPT-GO, Marcello Ribeiro Silva. According to him, the employee stated that the company did not respect working hours and that pilots flew more than the recommended number of hours. The complainant also alleged that the crew did not have a suitable place to rest.
“If any irregularity is proven, a public civil action may be proposed seeking accountability for the fulfillment of obligations to ensure compliance with legal norms of working hours) and even compensation for collective moral damages,” said Marcello Ribeiro Silva.
The National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) requested information about the operations of Pec Taxi Aéreo, with the objective of instituting a civil inquiry process to investigate possible labor irregularities committed by the company.
“The Agency emphasizes that it analyzes all complaints received and that, in case of evidence of irregularity, it initiates an administrative process to investigate and adopt relevant administrative measures”, explains Anac.
The singer Marilia Mendonça and four other people died in the accident that happened last Friday, the 5th, when the artist and her team were going to a concert in Caratinga, in the Vale do Rio Doce region, in Minas Gerais. However, the MPT considered that it is not possible to say that the suspicions are linked to the accident involving the singer.
