The Public Prosecution Service in Rio de Janeiro (MPT-RJ) opened a preliminary investigation, on Wednesday (12), on the working conditions that employees were submitted to the costume factory that caught fire in the morning in Ramos, in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro.
“The MPR-RJ urgently charged a de facto news (NF) to investigate working conditions at the factory where the fire took place on the morning of Wednesday (12), in branches,” the agency reports in a statement.
THE CNN It learned with residents of the region that employees took turns among 24 hours shifts. A lady who worked at the factory over 5 years stated that the place is very large and closed with narrow runners.

A large fire has reached a carnival costume factory in Ramos, in the north of Rio de Janeiro.
The affected factory is Maximus Confecções, responsible for producing costumes for the carnival of 2025 of samba schools such as Serrano Empire and Unidos da Ponte. The president of the Independent League of Rio de Janeiro Samba Schools (Liesa), Gabriel David, regretted the incident and said that the organization is available to the access group, impacted by the fire.
In total, 21 people were rescued from the building, with 18 being injured and were sent to hospitals from the state and municipal health networks. Of these, ten are in serious condition. The Secretary of State of Health, Claudia Mello, accompanies the care of the victims at Getúlio Vargas State Hospital.
