The vice-president of the Parliament, Odysseas Konstantinopoulos, in his intervention today on ANT1, referring to the position of the prime minister, said that “yesterday we saw a weak prime minister, who knows that the time for him and for the government is counting down. His effort yesterday focused exclusively on protecting Mr. Kontoleon and the former General Secretary, Mr. Dimitriadis. We must point out again that Mr. Kontoleon appeared before the relevant Institutions and Transparency Committee and lied about the issue. Is this not a crime? Regarding the legal aspects of the issue Mr. Venizelos was placed yesterday and put things in their place”.
He also emphasized that “yesterday we never found out why Mr. Androulakis was being monitored. The president of PASOK – Movement for Change is a candidate for prime minister and for this reason, it is not possible to create shadows around his face. We want to hear publicly why Mr. Androulakis was being monitored, the issue must be institutionally and transparently investigated and we should receive a clear answer. Is only Mr. Androulakis being monitored?”.
In his intervention, Mr. Konstantinopoulos also mentioned that “if the opposition wants to help us in our effort to bring the truth to light, I would suggest not giving Mr. Mitsotakis opportunities for communication fiestas. I call on SYRIZA to stop facilitating the government , constantly organizing communication games. We must make a concerted effort to bring Mr. Kontoleon before the Commission and explain why he lied, as well as every other government official involved. Let the world know publicly the reason for the surveillance.”
“The matter of Mr. Androulakis is not personal, we have emphasized that. It concerns us all: Journalists, political judges, citizens. That is why we are moving institutionally from the beginning, to find out the truth,” said Mr. Konstantinopoulos.
He described as a “crucial” issue “not to overcome the big issue that has arisen with the use of the “predator” system, as, as he explained, “through the predator, a surveillance system that robots the user’s cell phone by removing privacy, an attempt was made to the mobile phone of the president of PASOK was intercepted and a journalist was monitored. So we need to know: Who gave the order for these surveillances. The managers of the company that owns the software in Greece must be called before the public prosecutor’s office,” stressed Mr. Konstantinopoulos, concluding his intervention.
