A message about the country’s positive performance in tourism was sent by the Prime Minister, Mr. Mitsotakis, from Kefalonia, which he is visiting today, after in his statements, shortly after his arrival on the island, he emphasized that: “I was already informed that today we have surpassed the number of arrivals at fraport airports compared to 2019. So we are heading towards a tourist season which will be even better than the one we had in 2019”.
The prime minister visited the Kefalonia Hospital where, talking to the workers, he said: “I wanted to come here to see for myself the weaknesses, because there were and still are deficiencies. I want to thank, in your person, all the workers for the great burden which you raised during the pandemic but also for a regional hospital in an area that has a lot of tourist traffic”, noted Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
“We have made specific commitments for the staff that will come to the hospital, for the operation – finally – of the Intensive Care Unit, for the reformation of the emergency department, for psychiatry, you are doing well to point it out, because these incidents need a special treatment” continued the prime minister and added: “And we will do what is necessary to reform the old building itself. There is a study to join the resources of the Recovery Fund. It is the best example of how these resources are finally allocated for infrastructure which is to the benefit of all patients, but primarily also the workers”.
At this time, a meeting with the mayors of Kefalonia and Ithaca is being held by the prime minister at the offices of the vice-region.
